Under general direction the position holder is responsible for the facilitating of comprehensive credit analysis for new, existing, and prospective Borrowers of the Commercial Lending Department.  The position holder will assist in managing the technical aspect of the credit administration and loan review processes applicable to the Bank’s portfolio, conduct credit underwriting within the parameters of the banking laws and regulations, and underwrite some of the more complex credit requests such as participations, larger relationships, and construction loans.  Reports to VP Commercial Credit Manager.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  1. Credit Administration Duties:
  • Understands the Bank’s Commercial loan policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates the preparation of credit underwriting and analysis of new and existing loans, including some of the more complex credit requests such as participations, larger relationships, and construction loans.  
  • Assists Loan Officers in the assessment of the viability of new potential clients prior to Lender’s generating of term sheets.
  • Reviews existing risk ratings for accuracy and recommends adjustments, as necessary.
  • Assists in the review and monitoring of all formalized loan covenants, including asset-based lines as well as construction loans.
  • Generates, reviews and maintains all Financial Tracking, WAR, Policy Exception, etc. reports as needed.
  • Independently performs additional portfolio management responsibilities such as direct customer contact, collecting updated financial statements, coordinating modifications, annual reviews, and renewals, etc.  
  • Works with the VP/Department Head to ensure compliance with the internal policy, credit approval terms and conditions, regulatory ratio/policies etc.
  • Assists the VP/Department Head in creating/reviewing annual policies, identifying revisions, and suggesting compliance updates.
  • Provides backup in all Loan Administrative duties in the event of absences.
  1. Additional Duties and Special Projects:
  • Follows and upholds TSB Customer Service Standards in interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Must maintain thorough knowledge of and comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including BSA/AML and Privacy requirements, as set forth in the Bank’s policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and undertakes special department projects as requested by VP Commercial Credit/Department Head.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Math aptitude, ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, COCC Insight, Digital Archives, iDentifi, Medici, Sharefile.  Must be able to learn any new software program utilized by the Bank. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-starter and must take initiative to learn credit compliance regulations for mutual banks. 

Education:  

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance/business or relevant work experience.  Specialized training.           

Experience: 

Three (3) years to five (5) years of similar or related experience in financial institution underwriting/risk management or related field.   

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Condition Requirements:
 Busy office environment, with moderate noise: computers, printers, phones, and light traffic.
 Must be able to focus and not be easily distracted.  Must be able to sit for at least 70% of the
 workday.  Some movement is required to retrieve files, etc.  Must be able to see computer
 screen and read documents.

  • Remaining alert to and reporting malicious or suspected malicious email.

  • Provide feedback where possible to help improve the Bank’s security culture.
