SUMMARY:  To assemble a per diem workforce, receives and transmits emergency and administrative messages over combined Police, Fire, and emergency medical communications system.  Routes all calls, dispatches personnel and equipment to scene.  Must operate radio equipment, various computer programs, CAD and NCIC computer systems, and related equipment.  Must communicate clearly, calmly and effectively under emergency situations and have excellent customer service skills.
 
WORK SCHEDULE / CLASSIFICATION:  Shifts are 6 AM - 2 PM, 2 PM – 10 PM, 10 PM – 6 AM.  Will work open shifts depending on operational needs.  May work any shift that includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays.  Non-benefited, at-will position.  Note: Per diem Dispatchers must maintain required Certifications at their own expense.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  High School graduate or GED, prefer at least 1 year of relevant experience, education and experience may be substituted.  Must hold a valid certification in the following areas:  State of CT Telecommunicator, NCIC/COLLECT, Intl Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED)-Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and CPR.  Must be proficient in Nexgen CAD, and Intrado Dispatch Systems.
 
SALARY:  $ 29.91/hr.  For any shift.  [$ 44.87 For work on actual calendar date of a holiday.]
